2 g (5.3 mmole) of (2S)-2-benzyloxycarbonylamino-7-(3-ethoxy-3-oxo-1-propenyl)-tetralin were dissolved in 20 ml of methanol and 30 ml of THF, and 5.3 ml of 1N NaOH were added. The solution was stirred overnight at ambient temperature. The solvent was evaporated off, the residue was taken up in water and washed with ethyl ether; the aqueous phase was acidified with 5% citric acid and then extracted with ethyl acetate. It was dried over sodium sulfate and the solvent was evaporated off. The product of the heading was obtained.
