Procedure

Ethyl 4-[4-(cyclohexylcarbamoyl)-5-propyl-pyrazol-1-yl]benzoate (130 mg, 0.34 mmol) (Intermediate #21) was dissolved in methanol (10 mL) and treated at ambient temperature with 2M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (2.5 mL). The mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 18 h and then methanol was removed by evaporation under reduced pressure. The remaining aqueous solution was acidified with 2M aqueous hydrochloric acid to pH=2. A white solid precipitated out of solution, it was filtered, dried under vacuum and identified as the desired product (120 mg, quantitative reaction).
