To a solution of tert-butyl{4-methyl-3-[(6-nitropyridin-3-yl)oxy]phenyl}carbamate (1.85 g, 5.35 mmol) in methanol (10 mL) was added palladium carbon (50% water-containing product, 100 mg), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hr under a hydrogen atmosphere of 1.0 pressure. The reaction mixture was filtered through celite, the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the residue was dried to give the title compound (1.69 g, 99%) as a colorless oil.
