To a solution of 3-(1-cyano-1-methylethyl)-N-{3-[(5-nitropyridin-2-yl)oxy]-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl}benzamide (1.78 g, 3.78 mmol) in methanol (50 mL) was added 10% palladium-carbon powder (350 mg), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 11 hr under a hydrogen atmosphere of 2.4 atm. 10% Palladium-carbon powder was filtered off by celite filtration, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (1.44 g, 87%) as a brown amorphous substance.
