To a solution of 2-(3-amino-phenyl)-3,3-dimethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-quinoline-6-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (648 mg, 2 mmol) in dichloromethane (5 mL) and pyridine (1 mL, 12 mmol) was added a solution of pyrrolidine-1-carbonyl chloride (0.243 mL, 2.2 mmol) in dichloromethane (2 mL) dropwise at 0° C. The reaction mixture was stirred at 25° C. for 16 h. Then the reaction mixture was extracted with dichloromethane (2×50 mL), washed with water, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo to afford 3,3-dimethyl-2-{3-[(pyrrolidine-1-carbonyl)-amino]-phenyl}-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-quinoline-6-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (842 mg, 100%) as a brown oil which was used for next step without further purification: LC/MS m/e calcd for C25H31N3O3 (M+H)+: 422.54, observed: 422.2.
