To a mixture of 4-[4-(4,5-dihydro-5-phenyl-3-isoxazolyl)-2-thiazolyl]-N-(2,5-dimethylphenyl)-1-piperidinecarboxamide (i.e. the product of Step A) (0.406 g, 0.88 mmol) in dichloromethane (10 mL) was added phosphorus pentachloride (0.208 g, 1.0 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated at 40° C. for 16 h, and then concentrated under reduced pressure to provide the title compound as a foamy white solid (0.52 g).
