Procedure

To a solution of 5-[(4-acetyl-2,6-dichlorophenyl)amino]-9-bromobenzo[c]-2,6-naphthyridin-1(2H)-one (700 mg, 1.47 mmol) in methanol (10 mL) was added sodium borohydride (444 mg, 11.7 mmol) at 0° C. and the reaction mixture was stirred for 30 min. The solution was extracted with EtOAc and water, dried over MgSO4, filtered, and concentrated to afford the crude material. Purification by column chromatography on silica gel (100% CH2Cl2 to 70% CH2Cl2/30% MeOH) afforded the title compound.
