A mixture of mL (E)-methyl 3-(6-(4-methylthiazol-2-ylamino)-5-phenoxypyridin-3-yl)acrylate (500 mg, 1.36 mmol), 4-methylbenzenesulfonohydrazide (1.27 g, 6.8 mmol), and toluene (15 mL) was heated at reflux for 12 hours, cooled to room temperature and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel (20 to 30% EtOAc in hexanes) to afford the title compound.
