Step E In a manner similar to the method described in Example 1a, glycine tert-butyl ester (1.87 g, 14.3 mmol) was reacted with (1-methyl-cyclohexyl)-acetaldehyde (2.9 g, 14.3 mmol) in CH2Cl2 at room temperature for 18 h to give [2-(1-methyl-cyclohexyl)-eth-(E)-ylideneamino]-acetic acid tert-butyl ester as a colorless oil (3.4 g, 95%).
