Step E In a manner similar to the method described in Example 1a, glycine tert-butyl ester (0.52 g, 3.64 mmol) was reacted with 4-(tert-butyl-dimethyl-silanyloxy)-3,3-dimethyl-butyraldehyde (0.84 g, 3.64 mmol) in CH2Cl2 at room temperature for 18 h to give [4-(tert-butyl-dimethyl-silanyloxy)-3,3-dimethyl-but-(E)-ylideneamino]-acetic acid tert-butyl ester as a colorless oil (1.25 g, 100%).
