Step F In a manner similar to the method described in Example 1a, glycine tert-butyl ester (0.92 g, 7 mmol) was reacted with 3,3-diethyl-pentanal (1 g, 7 mmol) in CH2Cl2 at room temperature for 5 h to give [3,3-diethyl-pent-(E)-ylideneamino]-acetic acid tert-butyl ester as a colorless oil (1.8 g, 100%).
