Step C In a manner similar to the method described in Example 1a, glycine tert-butyl ester (0.13 g, 1 mmol) was reacted with 5-[2-(tert-butyl-dimethyl-silanyloxy)-ethoxy]-3,3-dimethyl-pentanal (0.27 g, 1 mmol) in CH2Cl2 at room temperature for 18 h to give [5-[2-(tert-butyl-dimethyl-silanyloxy)-ethoxy]-3,3-dimethyl-pent-(E)-ylideneamino]-acetic acid tert-butyl ester as a colorless oil (0.4 g, 100%).
