Step F In a manner similar to the method described in Example 1a, glycine tert-butyl ester (0.84 g, 6.4 mmol) was reacted with 3-(1-benzyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-pyridin-4-yl)-3-methyl-butyraldehyde (1.65 g, 6.4 mmol) in CH2Cl2 at room temperature for 5 h to give [3-(1-benzyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-pyridin-4-yl)-3-methyl-but-(E)-ylideneamino]-acetic acid tert-butyl ester as a yellow oil (2.4 g, 100%).
