Step F In a manner similar to the method described in Example 1a, glycine tert-butyl ester (2 g, 15.5 mmol) was reacted with 3-(3,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)-3-methyl-butyraldehyde (2.6 g, 15.5 mmol) in CH2Cl2 at room temperature for 5 h to give [3-(3,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)-3-methyl-but-(E)-ylideneamino]-acetic acid tert-butyl ester as a yellow oil (4.3 g, 100%).
