Reaction Steps
In a 50 mL round-bottomed flask, methyl 6-((2R,3S,4R,5S)-3-(3-chloro-2-fluorophenyl)-4-(4-chloro-2-fluorophenyl)-4-cyano-5-neopentylpyrrolidine-2-carboxamido)nicotinate (25 mg, 41.6 μmol, Eq: 1.00) was dissolved in methylene chloride (8 ml) to give a colorless solution. Aluminum bromide (66.5 mg, 249 μmol, Eq: 6) and dimethyl sulfide (25.8 mg, 30.7 μl, 416 μmol, Eq: 10) were added and the mixture was stirred at rt for overnight. The solvent was removed and the residue was suspended in 3 ml of acetonitrile, 3 ml of water was added and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (3×8 ml). The extracts were combined and dried with sodium sulfate. Removal of solvent at reduced pressure gave a yellow solid, 30 mg.
