A solution of (S)-2-methyl-pyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid butyl ester (Stage F.1, 2.3 g) in a 7 M solution of ammonia in MeOH (22.2 ml) was heated in a bomb at 70° C. for 10 days. Evaporation of the RM and trituration with hexanes (20 mL) gave the title compound as an off-white solid. 1H-NMR (d6-DMSO, 400 MHz): 7.40 (s, 1H), 6.89 (s, 1H), 2.95-2.84 (m, 1H), 2.72-2.60 (m, 1H), 2.06-1.95 (m, 1H), 1.66-1.44 (m, 2H), 1.42-1.30 (m, 1H), 1.22 (s, 3H).
