A mixture of (2S,3S)-3-(acetylamino-methyl)-1-((S)-1-phenyl-ethyl)-pyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid amide (Stage 36.2) (0.48 mmol) and 10% Pd on charcoal, wet with 50% H2O (Aldrich 330108) (0.096 mmol) in MeOH (5 mL) was hydrogenated for 6.5 h at rt. The reaction mixture was then filtered through a Fluoropore Membrane Filter (0.2 μm FG) and evaporated. The residue was dissolved in CH2Cl2 and evaporated to dryness to afford the title compound as an off-white solid. ESI-MS: [M+H]+ 186; TLC: Rf=0.08 (200:20:1 CH2Cl2/MeOH/conc. NH4OH).
