Reaction Steps
To a 65° C. solution of lithium aluminum hydride (0.37 ml, 1M in diethyl ether) in diethyl ether (5 mL) was added a solution of 3-[4-carbamoyl-2-(2-naphthalen-1-yl-ethoxy)-benzenesulfonylamino]-N-methoxy-N-methyl-succinamic acid tert-butyl ester (0.20 g, 0.34 mmol) in diethyl ether (5 mL). The reaction was stirred at −65° C. for 4.5 hours. The reaction was then diluted with ethyl acetate (100 mL) and washed with 10% potassium hydrogen sulfate (25 mL) and saturated sodium chloride (25 mL), dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to yield 3-[4-carbamoyl-2-(2-naphthalen-1-yl-ethoxy)-benzenesulfonylamino]-4-oxo-butyric acid tert-butyl ester as a clear oil.
