Reaction Steps
3β-tert-Butyldimethylsilyloxy-4,4-dimethyl-5α-chola-8,14-dien-24-oic acid (5.0 g) is reacted with ammonia following the procedure outlined in example 39 and reduced with lithium aluminium hydride (3.0 g) in THF at room temperature. Aqueous work-up and crystallisation from methanol gives 2.6 g of 3β-tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy-4,4-dimethyl-24-amino-5α-chola-8,14-diene.
