The compound was prepared as described in Example 3 by adding 3,5-dimethoxy-4-hydroxycinnamaldehyde (0.1 g, 0.48 mmol) to N-(cyanoacetyl)phenylethylamide (Example 20, 0.091 g, 0.48 mmol). The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (CHCl3-hexane, 1:1) to give a yellow solid (0.15 g, 83% yield). The product gave the following analytical data:
