To [3-chloro-5-(5-chloro-benzothiazol-2-yloxy)-phenyl]-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (263, 1.17 g, 2.85 mmol) was added trifluoroacetic acid. The mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 5 h, at which time TLC showed there was no starting material remained. The mixture was concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure, dissolved in EtOAc. The organic solution was washed with 1N NaOH, washed twice with a brine solution, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated. The residue was purified by chromatography with CH2Cl2 to give 785 mg of product. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 7.98 (d, J=8.6 Hz, 1H), 7.82 (d, J=2.0 Hz, 1H), 6.62 (t, J=1.9 Hz, 1H), 6.58 (t, J=1.8 Hz, 1H), 6.50 (t, J=1.9 Hz, 1H), 5.81 (s, 2H). MS (EI): m/z 311 (M+H).
