Following the procedure of Example 1, 7,8,9,10-tetrahydro-6H-benzo[b]-cyclohepta[d]furan-2-ylamine (1.0 g, 5.0 mmol) and isovaleryl chloride (0.68 mL, 5.5 mmol) in pyridine (10 mL) provided 3-methyl-N-[7,8,9,10-tetrahydro-6H-benzo[b]-cyclohepta[d]furan-2-yl]butyramide (0.73 g). Mp 162-163° C.; Anal. Calcd. for C18H23NO2: C, 75.76; H, 8.12; N, 4.91; Found: C, 75.46; H, 8.04; N, 4.93.
