Reaction Steps

To a solution of (±)-1,1-dimethylethyl (3aR,5S,6aR)-2-(phenylmethyl)hexahydro-2H-cyclopenta[d]isoxazole-5-carboxylate (13.0 g, 42.9 mmole) in EtOH (100 mL) in a Parr flask was added Pd(OH)2 (˜400 mg). The reaction contents were shaken under 50 psi of H2 overnight at RT. The reaction contents were filtered through Celite® (MeOH) and concentrated to give the title compound (7.87, 99%) as a white solid: LC-MS (ES) m/e 216 (M+H)+.
