10 mmol of 30 was dissolved in 20 ml of absolute ether at 0° C. 12.5 mmol lithiumalanate was added. After 7 min of stirring 10 ml of a saturated KHSO4 solution was added drop wise. Then the mixture was diluted by adding 50 ml of ether and the organic layer was separated. This was washed by 1N HCl, water, saturated NaHCO3 solution, brine and dried. 30 (1.43 g, 5.54 mmol), LiAlH4 (0.26 g, 6.92 mmol)
