Reaction Steps

To a suspension of 4-hydroxy-3-[1-oxo-3-(3-cyanophenyl)propyl]-1-phenyl-1,8-naphthyridin-2 (1H)-one (495 mg, 1.25 mmol, prepared in Synthetic Example 12) in DMF (12 ml) was added hydrazine monohydrate (80%, 148 μl, 3.69 mmol, 3.0 eq.), and the mixture was treated in the same manner as in Example 16 to give 3-[2-(3-cyanophenyl)ethyl]-5-phenyl-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c][1,8]naphthyridin-4 (5H)-one (456 mg, 93%).
