The compound (34 mg, 0.0325 mmol) obtained from Step B was dissolved in MeOH (0.5 mL) and 10% Pd/C (7 mg) was added. A hydrogen balloon was attached and the reaction allowed to stir for approximately 4 h at which time MS indicated a complete reaction. The reaction was filtered and concentrated under vacuum to give the product as a white solid (20 mg, 79% yield). 1HNMR (300 MHz, CD3OD) δ 1.56 (s, 3H) 2.25 (m, 1H) 2.45 (m, 1H) 4.5 (m, 2H) 4.6 (m, 2H) 5.1 (m, 1H) 7.5–7.8 (m, 8H).
