Procedure

Following the procedure for the preparation of 3-chloro-2,5-diethylpyrazine but substituting 3-cyclopropyl-6-ethylpiperazine-2,5-dione and making non-critical variations provided 3-chloro-2-cyclopropyl-5-methylpyrazine (A) and 3-chloro-5-cyclopropyl-2-methylpyrazine (B) as oils. Analytical data for 3-chloro-2-cyclopropyl-5-ethylpyrazine (A): 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ 1.06–1.10, 1.28–1.33, 2.42–2.51, 2.73–2.81, 8.18; Analytical data for 3-chloro-5-cyclopropyl-2-ethylpyrazine (B): 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ 1.04–1.08, 1.24–1.39, 1.97–2.06, 2.88–2.95, 8.31.
