This material was prepared from 6-methoxy-2-methyl-benzofuran-3-carboxylic acid isobutyl amide 84a by treatment with BBr3 in a manner as previously described for example 1d. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6) δ 9.53 (1H, s), 7.90 (1H, t, J=6.1 Hz), 7.44 (1H, d, J=8.3 Hz), 6.86 (1H, s), 6.74 (1H, dd, J=8.6, 1.8 Hz), 3.07 (2H, t, J=6.1 Hz), 2.52 (3H, s), 1.81 (1H, m). 0.90 (6H, d, J=6.8 Hz).
