A mixture of benzyl 4-{[(5-fluoropyrimidin-2-yl)amino]methyl}piperidine-1-carboxylate (EXAMPLE 142, STEP 3) (9.0 g, 0.026 mol) and Pd/C (10%, 0.9 g) in anhydrous methanol (250 mL) was vigorously stirred under hydrogen atmosphere provided by a hydrogen balloon for 2 h.
