Reaction Steps
The ethyl 1-(2-fluoroethyl)-7-[(E)-2-(4-isopropyl-1,3-thiazol-2-yl)-1-ethenyl]-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-3-quinolinecarboxylate (254 mg, 0.613 mmol) obtained in (A) was dissolved in a mixed solution of methanol, tetrahydrofuran and water (1:1:1), added with 1 N aqueous sodium hydroxide (1.23 ml, 1.23 mmol), and then the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 8 hours. The reaction mixture was added with 1 N hydrochloric acid (1.23 ml, 1.23 mmol) to neutralize the system, and extracted with chloroform. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the solvent was evaporated to obtain the title compound (174 mg, 73%) as yellow solid.
