Reaction Steps

3.50 g (10 mmol) VII, 2.22 ml (20 mmol) bromoacetic acid ethyl ester and 2.48 g (25 mmol) K2CO3 were heated under reflux for 5 h in 250 ml acetone. The reaction mixture was filtered. The filtrate was freed from the solvent. After recrystallization from n-hexane, VIII was obtained in a yield of 4.00 g (9.2 mmol, 92%).
