(S)-1-((2S,4S)-4-Amino-1-tert-butoxycarbonyl-2-pyrrolidinylcarbonyl)-2-cyanopyrrolidine (title compound of Reference Example 3, 308 mg) was dissolved in 4 mol/L hydrochloric acid-1,4-dioxane (1.25 mL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 27 hr. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and tetrahydrofuran was added thereto. The precipitated solid was collected by filtration to give the title compound (214 mg).
