3 mol/L hydrogen chloride-ethyl acetate (20 mL) was added to N-[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzyl]-N-[3-(t-butoxycarbonylamino)propyl]-4,6-dichloro-2-(methylthio)pyrimidine-5-carboxylic acid amide (Compound of Reference Example 4; 8.23 g) while the solution was chilled on an ice bath. The reaction mixture was stirred for 1 hour and then another 1 hour at room temperature. Subsequently, the solvent was removed to obtain N-[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzyl]-N-(3-aminopropyl)-4,6-dichloro-2-(methylthio)pyrimidine-5-carboxylic acid amide hydrochloride (7.35 g, 100%).
