Trifluoroacetic acid (0.5 ml) was added to a methylene chloride solution (10 ml) of N-[5-(5,6-dimethoxy-3-methyl-1,4-benzoquinon-2-yl)methyl-2-hydroxybenzoyl]-4-tert-butoxycarbonylaminoaniline (0.205 g, 0.309 mmol) and the resulting solution was stirred at room temperature for 10 hours. The reaction solution was concentrated and the obtained residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (chloroform:methanol=95:5) to obtain the titled compound (0.150 g, 0.355 mmol, 91%).
