Reaction Steps

Triethylamine (33 ml, 0.241 mmol) and mthanesulphonyl chloride (19 ml, 0.241 mmol) were added to a solution of 4-anilino-5-bromo-2-[4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)methylanilino]pyrimidine (Example 31; 100 mg, 0.241 mmol) in DCM (5 ml) at 0° C. The solution was warmed to ambient temperature and left to stand for 1 hour. Diethylamine (2 ml) was added, and the mixture was heated at 50° C. for 3 hours. The solvent was removed by evaporation, and the residue was purified by column chromatography, eluting with 0–2% methanol solution in DCM containing 0.5% aqueous ammonia solution, to give the product as a cream solid (38 mg, 34%). NMR (CDCl3): 1.03 (t, 6H), 2.58 (q, 4H), 2.69 (t, 2H), 3.54 (t, 2H), 4.48 (s, 2H), 7.06 (d, 2H), 7.17 (t, 1H), 7.22 (s, 1H), 7.26 (s, 1H), 7.38 (dd, 2H), 7.49 (d, 2H), 7.58 (d, 2H), 8.15 (s, 1H); MS (MH+): 470.4, 472.4.
