To a solution of the product from Step A (630 mg, 1.0 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (20 mL) at −78° C. was added boron trichloride (1M in CH2Cl2) (10 mL, 10 mmol). The mixture was stirred at −78° C. for 2 h, then at −20° C. for 2.5 h. The reaction was quenched with CH2Cl2/MeOH (1:1) (10 mL), stirred at −20° C. for 0.5 h, and neutralized at 0° C. with aqueous ammonia. The solid was filtered, washed with CH2Cl2/MeOH (1:1) and the combined filtrate evaporated in vacuo. The residue was purified on a silica gel column with CH2Cl2/MeOH, 50/1 and 20/1 as eluent to give the title compound as a colorless foam (250 mg).
