0.3 g (1.03 mmol) of 3-(2-(t-butoxycarbonylamino)ethoxy)-4-hydroxymethylbenzonitrile was dissolved in 3 ml of dichloromethane (dehydrated). 0.36 g (4.1 mmol) of activated manganese dioxide was added to the obtained solution in the presence of argon, and they were stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction solution was filtered through Celite to obtain the title compound.
