Procedure
In ethanol (2 ml) was dissolved 191 mg of 1-[(2-methoxy-3-pyridyl)methyl]-4-[2-cyano-2-(2-methoxyphenyl)ethyl]piperidine obtained in Example 86. To the mixture was added 0.3 ml of a 4N hydrogen chloride ethyl acetate solution, followed by heating under reflux for 2 hours. The solvent was evaporated, to give 199 mg of the title compound as colorless crystals.
