1.0 g of 2-[1-[(2-Methoxy-3-pyridyl)methyl]-2-piperidyl]acetic acid, 0.41 ml of benzylamine, 950 mg of WSC and 260 mg of HOBt were suspended in DMF, followed by stirring at room temperature for 2 hours. Water was added thereto, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was dried over sodium sulfate. The drying agent was filtered off, the solvent was evaporated and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate:methanol=10:1, subsequently 5:1), to give 500 mg of the title compound as white crystals.
