Reaction Steps
A solution of tert-butyldimethylsilyl chloride (3.53 g, 23.43 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (50 ml) was added dropwise to a solution of N-methyl-N-(4-phenoxybenzenesulfonyl)serinol (8.32 g, 24.66 mmol), which is the product of Example 67(2), and imidazole (4.13 g, 61.65 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (200 ml) at room temperature with stirring. The mixture was further stirred for 2 hours. The solvent of the reaction mixture was evaporated under reduced pressure. To the residue, water was added and this was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by chromatography on a silica gel column using hexane/ethyl acetate=2/1 as the eluant to afford the desired compound (4.15 g, yield 38%) as a colorless oil.
