In an analogous manner to that described in (γ) (3-fluoro-2-methoxy-phenyl)-methanol was treated with mesylchloride to obtain 1-chloromethyl-3-fluoro-2-methoxy-benzene as a colorless liquid; MS: 174 (M)+.
