A mixture of N-cyclopropyl-1-[3-(4-hydroxymethylphenyl)phenyl]-1,4-dihydro[1,8]naphthyridin-4-one-3-carboxamide from Example 16, carbon tetrabromide (2 eq), and diphos (0.6 molareq) in methylene chloride (15 ml/mmol) was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The mixture was concentrated at room temperature and chromatographed on silica gel eluting with a 1:1 mixture of ethyl acetate and methylene chloride to afford the N-Cyclopropyl-1-[3-(4-bromomethylphenyl)phenyl]-1,4-dihydro[1,8]naphthyridin-4-one-3-carboxamide compound.
