tert-Butyl 4-[(9-{(2R,3R,4R,5S)-3,4-bis(acetyloxy)-5-[3-(tert-butyl)isoxazol-5-yl]tetrahydrofuran-2-yl}-9H-purin-6-yl)amino]piperidine-1-carboxylate (500 mg) was dissolved in trifluoroacetic acid:dichloromethane (1:9, 20 ml) and the mixture kept at 3° C. for 16 h. The mixture was then quenched with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution (100 ml) and extracted with dichloromethane (100 ml). The organic layer was washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution (100 ml) and evaporated to dryness in vacuo to afford the title compound (407 mg) as a yellow glassy solid.
