Reaction Steps

N-[5-(4-methylphenyl)thiophene-2-sulfonyl]pyrrole was prepared in the same manner as described in Example 1 3C using 4-methyl-phenylboronic acid and N-(5-bromothiophenesulfonyl)pyrrole. Purification by column chromatography using 2% ethyl acetate/hexanes gave N-[5-(4-methylphenyl)-thiophene-2-sulfonyl]pyrrole as a pale yellow solid in 77% yield.
