Procedure

Methanol (30 mL) is added dropwise to acetyl chloride (1.4 mL) at 0° C. The solution is added to 4-[(S)-4-(2,3-dihydro-benzo[1,4]dioxin-2-yl)-benzyl]-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (408 mg, 0.99 mmol) (prepared according to the General Method E). The resulting mixture is stirred at room temperature for 16 h and concentrated. The residue is suspended in a mixture of heptane and EtOAc, and the precipitate is collected and dried under vacuum to give 1-[(S)-4-(2,3-dihydro-benzo[1,4]dioxin-2-yl)-benzyl]-piperazine dihydrochloride.
