Reaction Steps
To a stirred solution of methyl 3-(hydroxymethyl)-5-(5-methylpyridin-2-yl)benzoate (110 mg, 0.41 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (2 mL) at 0° C. was added sodium hydride (60% in mineral oil, 21 mg, 0.52 mmol). After 30 minutes, methyl iodide (73 mg, 0.51 mmol) was added at 0° C. The mixture was warmed to room temperature and stirred for 30 minutes. The mixture was quenched with water (2 mL) and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous MgSO4 and concentrated to get the tittle compound.
