Procedure
Methyl 5-formyl-1,2,3-thiadiazole-4-carboxylate (460.0 mg, 0.0026 mol) was dissolved in ethanol (40 mL) and sodium tetrahydroborate (50 mg, 0.0013 mol) was added at 0° C. The orange solution was allowed to warm to room temp and was stirred for 30 minutes. The reaction was quenched with acetic acid and then purified by preparative LCMS to give the desired product (340 mg, 73%). MF=C5H6N2O3S; LCMS calculated for C5H7N2O3S (M+H)+: m/z=175.1.
