Procedure

1.95 g (14.11 mmol) 4-methoxy-o-phenylenediamine were refluxed in 30.0 mL acetic acid for 2 h with stirring. The reaction mixture was evaporated down i.vac. The residue was taken up in an aqueous NaHCO3 solution and filtered. The filtrate was extracted with dichloromethane. The organic phase was separated off, dried and evaporated down i.vac.
