Procedure

Under an argon atmosphere 4-(2-Cyclopropyl-8-methoxy-[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridin-5-yl)-3-methyl-4-oxo-butyric acid (0.1 g, ca. 0.33 mmol) was dissolved in EtOH (1.5 mL). AcOH (0.11 mL, 1.98 mmol) and NH2NH2*H2O (0.048 mL, 0.99 mmol) were added. The solution was heated at reflux for 17 h after which it was concentrated in vacuo and co-concentrated with toluene. Aq. NaHCO3 was added and the aqueous phase was extracted with ÉtOAc (×2). The combined organic phases were dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was purified by flash chromatography using EtOAc as the eluent to afford the title compound as a solid.
