Procedure

(R)-5-(2-Hydroxy-1-methoxyethyl)-4-methylisobenzofuran-1(3H)-one (500 mg, 2.25 mmol) was dissolved in DCM (10 mL) and treated with Dess-Martin periodinane (954 mg, 2.25 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature under nitrogen overnight. The crude product was used directly. LC-MS (IE, m/z): 239.2 (M+H2O+1)+.
